
Widows are often listed as biblioclasts, maliciously accused of getting rid of the books left by their deceased husbands. Often, they do not even wait for the Mass of the Resurrection of their mourned husband to dispose of their library, regardless of the estimated value or rarity of the books in the collection. Reasons for this book-destroying behavior are presented and discussed.
